Excise duty in Italy
Transport companies can get partial refund of their excise duty on diesel bought in Italy.
Refund of this excise duty requires a special application form and is not part of the VAT refund procedure.

Who can submit a claim?
Transport companies registered within the EU using vehicles with a gross weight of more than 7,5 ton and Euro 4 or higher.
As of 01.01.2020, refund cannot exceed 1 liter of diesel per km travelled per vehicle. Application periods: Quarterly basis. The claim must be submitted to the Italian authorities no later than one month after the end of the quarter for which the claim is made.
